We need APC volunteers!

We are seeking energetic and knowledgeable volunteers to serve for a two year term on the Town of Gibsons’ Advisory Planning Commission. Members will be asked to review development proposals and make recommendations to Council on the quality of urban design and architectural character, based on a review of the design guidelines in the Town’s Official Community Plan. Other planning issues may also be referred to the Commission from time to time.

We are looking for candidates with general knowledge or professional expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Building design, architecture or urban design
  • Energy efficiency, environmental and sustainable design
  • Crime prevention through environmental design principles
  • Local plants and landscaping practice or experience in landscape architecture or site design
  • Adaptable and accessible housing
  • Transportation
Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with the community and current community issues and concerns.
The Commission meets on an as needed basis, with a standing meeting reservation for the third Friday of every month, at noon. Currently, the number of meetings of the Commission is around 4 – 6 per year, though this will vary according to the number of development applications received by the Town.
