MISSION STATEMENT

“The Gibsons & District Volunteer Fire Department improves the quality of life in our fire protection district by reducing suffering from loss of life, destruction of property, and damage to the environment. This is achieved through dedication to training, public education and fire prevention by using up to date equipment and techniques.”
 
The Gibsons & District Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of up to 39 volunteer firefighters and 3 paid staff members - Fire Chief, Fire Prevention Officer and Maintenance Technician. The department operates 8 pieces of apparatus out of 2 firehalls and covers an operational area of approximately 25 sq. miles.

The Fire Protection Area incorporates the municipality of the Town of Gibsons and portions of electoral areas E and F of the Sunshine Coast Regional District and serves a population of approximately 10,000 people. The fire department is a function of the SCRD and the Town is a participating member of that service.

The fire department provides services to the public in the form of fire suppression, emergency medical first response, rescue, extrication, hazardous materials control, fire prevention, public education, public assistance and mutual aid.
