Municipal Departments - Town of Gibsons

From early morning snow removal to late night Public Open Houses and Council meetings and 24-hour emergency response, Town employees work night and day to keep Gibsons safe and thriving.

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

The CAO provides direction to all Town departments, is the liaison with the Mayor and Town Councillors, and takes the lead in all major projects and programs.

Corporate Services

Corporate Services is responsible for facilitating the provision of Council, Committee and other related meetings, addressing inquiries and requests pursuant to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Communications, lease management, website management and administrative support to other departments.

Finance

Finance is responsible for the overall treasury function of the Town including: maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions, safekeeping of all assets, investment of municipal funds and control of financial affairs of the Town.

Planning And Development Department

The Planning Department is responsible for managing the Town’s growth and development. Assistance and inquiries from residents, property owners and developers on land use, and development matters are provided.

The Building Inspector reviews plans, inspects construction and answers inquires from residents, property owners, architects, engineers, builders and developers on matters related to building construction, renovation and the BC Building and Plumbing Code and applicable Provincial and Federal regulations.

The Bylaw Enforcement Officer administers, monitors, and seeks compliance with the bylaws enacted by Mayor and Council to regulate the affairs of the Town of Gibsons.

Infrastructure Services Department

The Infrastructure Services Department unites the related objectives of Engineering, Public Works and Parks staff under one umbrella. Together, these staff work to: ensure the continuous and safe operation of the Town’s infrastructure and facilities; maintain and enhance the quality of life for people who live and work in our community; and contribute to the quality of life and personal wellness of the community through the provision of a variety of special events, programs, services and facilities.

I.C.B.C. Driver Services

I.C.B.C. Driver Services is available to the public including insurance, driver examinations, driver licence renewals and special permits.

Gibsons & Area Volunteer Fire/Rescue

The Gibsons & Area Volunteer Fire/Rescue provides emergency services to protect our citizens’ lives and property from the adverse effects of fires, sudden medical emergencies or exposure to dangerous conditions created by man or nature. This department also operates fire prevention, education and training programs.
