Stage 1 water restrictions come into effect May 1st each year regardless of weather. Since water use is highest in the summer months, these regulations help to even out water use and conserve our drinking water to ensure we have a regular supply throughout the year.

These water restrictions are part of a collaborative effort to ensure the entire Sunshine Coast has:

  • adequate water supply for firefighting readily available and of sufficient volume and pressure
  • sufficient drinking water supply during summer months when rainfall is low and demand is high
  • a sufficient supply of water for unforeseen emergencies

Stage 1 regulations allow for lawn watering as follows:

Even addresses may use water sprinklers or soaker hoses on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 7-9 am and 7-9 pm.

Odd addresses may use water sprinklers or soaker hoses on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 7-9 am and 7-9 pm.

Hand watering, washing vehicles or boats, and washing exterior spaces, such as your driveway or windows, are allowed any time, but ONLY with a container or hose with spray-trigger nozzle.

Unestablished new lawns may require more water than is permitted under stage 1. Special permits can be obtained from Town Hall and displayed on the lawn.

Subsequent stages are put into place on an as-needed basis, depending on the rainfall received and water usage that occurs through the summer months.
