June is Pride Month and it’s time to celebrate!

On May 31st, Mayor White will proclaim that June 2023 be known as Sunshine Coast Pride Month in the Town of Gibsons.

The Town of Gibsons staff and Council are committed to fostering a community that is healthy, supportive, welcoming, and inclusive. We celebrate diversity and recognize the value our unique differences bring.

Each year in June, flag-raising events take place across many communities to symbolize a celebration of the 2SLGBTQIA+ (2 Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans+, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, plus) community. This year the annual flag raising in Gibsons will take place at Pioneer Park on Wednesday, May 31st at 10 am. Everyone is welcome to attend.

2 Thoughts on “June is Pride Month!”

  • why is the town using an image of a flag that only represents a small percentage of the 2SLGBTQIA plus “community” in this banner image? Very disappointing because so many people are left out. There are many of us who live within many insections of the queer demographic. To be left out again is hard to understand, painful and not very inclusive after all the leg work I did last year for the town of Gibsons to explain the importance and need for the Progress Flag to be flown.
