Request a Proclamation

Proclamations are a formal declaration, supported by Council and signed by the Mayor, intended to bring public awareness and education for:

• Local events and initiatives
• Charitable and community-service initiatives
• Health and public service initiatives
• Multicultural awareness
• Special anniversaries for non-profit organizations that benefit communities
• Someone who’s made a major community contribution

Requests will not be considered if they:

• Are commercial or political in nature
• Are contentious or divisive within the community

How to submit a request:

Send an email to mayorandcouncil@gibsons.ca with the following information:

• Organization or applicant name
• Description of the cause or event
• Requested date(s)
• How the request meets the criteria

Once the email has been received, you will be contacted of Council’s decision and next steps.
