Join ḵ’atxa’mat Fran Nahanee on a walking tour that explores Sḵwx̱wú7mesh culture and the history of Ch’kw’elhp Gibsons. With her Sḵwx̱wú7mesh ancestry dating back 9 generations to the village site of Ch’kw’elhp, Fran offers a wealth of cultural knowledge in her warm-hearted and engaging tours. During the walk, Fran will speak about Sḵwx̱wú7mesh history of the region, cultural protocol, plant-knowledge, and her own family connection to Ch’kw’elhp.

Heritage Playhouse
Opened in 2000, the Heritage Playhouse is an important cultural asset owned by the Town of Gibsons. Originally built in 1929 as the Woman’s Institute, it served as the community cultural hub through the depression years. With a lot of hard work, between 1987-1999 it was rehabilitated and transformed by volunteers, donors, and a few grants into the live concert and theatrical venue it is today. Sunshine Coast Museum & Archives
The Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives is an innovative and community-driven heritage destination representing the history of the Sunshine Coast and its inhabitants. Music in the Landing
Did you know the Town of Gibsons hosts free weekend concerts in Gibsons Landing all summer long? Known as “Music in the Landing”, local professional musicians of all genres fill the Landing with wonderful music. All concerts are free of charge and family-friendly events – grab the lawn chairs or a blanket and bring the gang down to the park this summer! Artisan Seaside Market – Saturdays in the Summer
Located at the foot of Holland Park in Lower Gibsons, this market features the art and crafts of 50+ local artists and designers! Saturdays from 10am to 3pm, from June until August. seasidemarket.ca
Art & Words Festival
The Sunshine Coast Writers and Editors Society (SCWES) hosts the annual Art & Words Festival which pairs Sunshine Coast authors and artists together to inspire each other to create original works of art and literature. This creative collaboration is celebrated in a four-day festival of literary and open mic readings, an art exhibition, live music, writing and art workshops, a public art project, the publication of an anthology, an art and literary contest, and more. Gibsons Public Market
Located at 473 Gower Point Road, next to Gibsons Marina. The Gibsons Public Market is a community project that inspires and supports economic activities in the region. The public market is a destination for Sunshine Coast residents and visitors of all ages where all are welcome to convene and learn, enjoy local food, fresh produce, art and entertainment. The public market provides space for community activities, gatherings, workshops, a marine education centre, a community kitchen, and a bistro.
Tidepool Aquarium and Marine Education Centre
Step into the Tidepool Aquarium and explore the beautiful underwater world of Howe Sound. Meet local marine life and learn about their role in healthy ocean ecosystems. Through awareness, the Centre promotes the protection of the marine environments on the Coast and beyond.
Gibsons Public Art Gallery
Located in the heart of vibrant Gibsons BC, in the unceded territory of the Squamish Nation, the Gibsons Public Art Gallery uses monthly exhibitions and special events to showcase art culture in all of its forms. Local residents and visitors alike gather at the art gallery to meet new friends and appreciate artistic expression.
