How to Pay Property Taxes
You can pay your taxes through the internet, telephone banking, post-dated cheques, by regular mail, or in-person.
Online or Telephone Banking
The easiest way to pay is through your financial institution’s online or telephone banking
- Add “Town of Gibsons” as a payee
- Use your Roll Number (top left of your tax notice) as your account number
- Make your payment a few days before the deadline to ensure we receive it on time.
Post-dated Cheques
Avoid last-minute line-ups by mailing or dropping off a post-dated cheque any time before the due date.
By Mail
Mail your cheque early to ensure it arrives by the due date.
- Postmarks are not accepted as proof of payment.
- Payments delayed or lost by Canada Post will be subject to penalties.

In Person
Bring your payment (cash or cheque) to Town Hall at 474 South Fletcher Road.
- We do not accept credit cards at Town Hall or by phone.
- Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday (excluding holidays).
- To help us serve you faster, please fill out your cheque before arriving.
After-hours drop-box
Cheque payments can be left in the mail slot located at the entrance to Town Hall at 474 South Fletcher Rd. Please place the cheque along with the remittance stub in a sealed envelope. Cash is not accepted in the drop box.
Online Credit Card Payments (charges apply)
You can pay by VISA or Mastercard online only for a fee, using OptionPay.
- You’ll need your Roll Number from your tax notice.
- Pay by credit card here.
- Note: credit card payments are not accepted at Town Hall or by phone.
Can I pay my taxes monthly?
Yes, you can make periodic installments on your taxes throughout the year. The frequency of the payments is up to you. The most convenient way is to set up the payment online through your financial institution. You will need to add the Town of Gibsons as a payee. Your “Roll” number is your account number. You can find your Roll number on the top left hand side of your tax notice. There is no minimum or maximum amount for your payment.
If you would like assistance estimating your monthly payment, or want to know your roll number, please contact our office. We also accept post-dated cheques. You can mail or drop them off at our office and we will deposit them on the date listed on the cheque.
