In accordance with the Local Government Act, the Town of Gibsons Council will hold a Public Hearing to consider the following proposed bylaws:
OCP Amendment Bylaw No. 1339-01, 2026
The purpose of this bylaw is to amend Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw No. 1339, 2025 by:
- updating the environmentally sensitive area map to include Charman Creek;
- updating climate mi ga on policy to reflect current targets;
- changing the land use designation on 731 North Road (LOT S PLAN VAP14025 DISTRICT LOT 688) [Map Figure 1] from “Mixed-Use Commercial” to “Public Institutional”; and
- making housekeeping amendments, including corrections to dates, terminology and map references.
Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1342-01, 2026
The purpose of this bylaw is to amend Zoning Bylaw No. 1342, 2025 by:
- rezoning 731 North Road [Map Figure 1] from CM-2 (Mixed-Use Commercial Upper Gibsons Zone) to PI-2 (Public Institutional Upper Gibsons Zone);
- rezoning Lot 14 Plan EPP75275 District Lot 689, Venture Way [Map Figure 2] from CI-2 (Industrial Commercial Transition Zone) to CM-2 (Mixed-Use Commercial Upper Gibsons Zone);
- permitting Parks and Recreation land use over the water lease areas fronting Armours Beach [Map Figure 3], within the PO Zone;
- Exempting the CM-1 (Mixed-Use Commercial Lower Gibsons Zone) from the cap of 35 non-principal-residence short-term rentals;
- revising landscape plan requirements and boat storage regulations;
- clarifying how building height is measured;
- removing restrictions to secondary suites in basements, and
- updating definitions and references.
A copy of the proposed bylaws and supporting information may be inspected online until June 2, 2026, at www.gibsons.ca/current-development-application, or at Town Hall, 474 South Fletcher Road, Gibsons, BC, 8:30 am-4:30 pm, Mon-Fri.
All persons who believe their interest in property may be affected by the proposed bylaws will be given an opportunity to be heard at the Public Hearing. The Public Hearing may be attended in person, or electronically, via Zoom using the meeting link available at: www.gibsons.ca/public-hearings
Written submissions will also be accepted in the following ways. Those received by 8:00 a.m. on June 2, 2026, will be included in the Hearing Agenda.
