Home Owner Grant

Since 2021, all home owner grant applications must be submitted directly to the BC provincial government through a secure online application. Municipalities, such as the Town of Gibsons, can no longer accept any home owner grant applications.

 

If you qualify for the Home Owner Grant, you must apply each year to receive it. You do not need to make a payment in order to claim the grant.

You can apply:

  • Online through the Province’s website

  • By phone with a provincial agent at 1-888-355-2700 (toll-free)

Retroactive Home Owner Grant applications are also accepted online.

If I defer my property taxes, do I still need to claim the Home Owner Grant?
Yes — you must still apply for the grant even if you defer your taxes.
