Skyline Drive Watermain Replacement

We’re upgrading the watermains on Skyline Drive, Avalon Drive, Shoal Lookout, and Allison Way to improve reliability, reduce costly breaks, and increase capacity for future needs.

Why it matters:
From 2021 to 2023, repeated watermain breaks caused water loss and service disruptions. Replacing these aging, undersized asbestos cement watermains will improve water service, reduce maintenance costs, strengthen fire protection, and support housing needs identified in Gibsons’ Complete Communities Assessment (2025).

Project details:

• Replace watermains with larger ductile iron pipes (200 mm on Skyline, 150 mm on Avalon, Shoal, and Allison).
• Restore roads with new asphalt
• Optional: expand paving and extend watermain toward Arbutus Reach if budget allows.

Impacts to residents

• Intermittent water shutoffs for service tie‑ins (advance notice will be provided)
• Local road closures and temporary traffic control during construction
• Noise and construction activity during daytime hours
