Vote by Mail is available for the Town of Gibsons 2026 General Local Election.
Electors who wish to vote by mail must complete and submit a Mail Ballot Voting Application.
If your application is complete and you qualify to vote by mail, a mail ballot package will be provided once ballots are available. Additional forms, identification, or a solemn declaration may be required before you qualify to receive a mail ballot package.
If you do not provide an email address or phone number, the Town may not be able to notify you of the result of your application to vote by mail or contact you if additional information is required.
Important Mail Ballot Deadlines
- August 24, 2026
Mail-ballot applications become available.
- September 28, 2026
Mail-ballot packages begin being mailed and become available for pickup on or about September 28, 2026.
- October 6, 2026
Last day the Town will mail out mail-ballot packages.
- October 16, 2026 at 12:00pm
Deadline to request a mail-ballot package and final deadline for package pickup at Town Hall.
- October 17, 2026 at 8:00pm
Completed mail ballot must be received to be counted.

Pick-up is available during regular office hours. Please plan around statutory holidays and office closures.
How to Receive Your Mail Ballot Package
On the Mail Ballot Voting Application, choose one option only:
- mail the package to your residential address;
- mail the package to your mailing address;
- mail the package to the alternative address listed on your application;
- keep the package at Town Hall for you to pick up; or
- keep the package at Town Hall for the person listed on your application to pick up on your behalf.
If someone else will pick up your package, that person must match the information provided on your application, sign the required declaration form, and present two pieces of identification when picking up the package.
Returning Your Completed Mail Ballot Package
Completed mail ballot packages must be received by the Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officer before the close of voting at *8:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
*If delivering them on voting day, please deliver to the Voting Place at Gibsons & Area Community Centre, Room 219, 700 Park Road, Gibsons.
Completed mail ballot packages must be returned by Canada Post with delivery to PO Box 340, Gibsons, BC V0N 1V0 OR delivered in person to Town Hall, 474 South Fletcher Road, Gibsons, BC during regular office hours (M – F, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm)
The Town is not responsible for Canada Post delays. Please allow enough time for both delivery of the package to you and the return of the completed package to the Town. Return postage is the responsibility of the applicant.
