Gibsons Landing Harbour Authority (GLHA) is an organization whose primary purpose is to administer the daily operations of the government wharf, which is owned by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Small Craft Harbours. The GLHA is incorporated under the Canada Corporations Act as a not-for-profit organization. The Town of Gibsons is the sole Member of Gibsons Landing Harbour Authority. The mandate of the Gibsons Landing Harbour Authority is to provide support and services to the commercial fishing industry.
There are nine Directors that serve on the Board of the Corporation. Appointments to GLHA are made in accordance with the Authority’s Bylaw and approved by the Town of Gibsons. Directors serve for a two-year term and the Board consists of nine Directors. Director appointment is staggered with four Directors’ terms expiring in one year and the remaining five in the following year.
*At least one director must represent commercial fishing and, where possible, one director be a resident on either Keats Island or Gambier Island (s.4.01).
