Crews will begin drilling three new monitoring wells in Lower Gibsons during the week of January 15, 2024.
The installation of three additional monitoring wells in Lower Gibsons will help identify the thickness of the aquitard (confining unit of Aquifer 560) and the Capilano aquifer, and provide monitoring of the hydraulic connection between surface water (creeks) and groundwater (aquifers). The drilling will provide a collection of samples to help understand Aquifer infiltration rates and enable the Town to monitor both the Capilano and Aquifer 560 from one monitoring well.
