Important Notice: Speed Limit Change in Lower Gibsons
The Town of Gibsons is committed to improving road safety for all road users. To support this goal, we are reducing the posted speed limit from 50 km/h to 30 km/h on all roads approaching the 5-Corners intersection in Lower Gibsons. This is the intersection at the bottom of the hill where School Road, Gibsons Way, Marine Drive and Gower Point Road meets.
When will this change take effect? The new speed limit will come into effect on February 10, 2025.
Why is this change being made? This area represents the busiest pedestrian center in Gibsons, particularly during peak summer tourist season. Reducing the speed limit is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers in this busy and vibrant area.
What roads are affected?
- On School Road, from North Road to the intersection
- On Gibsons Way, from Killarney Lane to the intersection
- On Gower Point Road, from Winn Road to the intersection
- On Marine Drive, from Town limits to the intersection
