New BC Hydro EV Charging Stations Now Available at the Gibsons Community Centre
Gibsons, BC – April 1, 2025 – The Town of Gibsons is pleased to announce that BC Hydro has installed several new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Gibsons Community Centre, located at 700 Park Rd. The new charging stations will provide increased accessibility and convenience for EV drivers in the community and visitors to the Sunshine Coast.
The site features:
- 4 DC Fast Chargers (DCFC) – providing rapid charging for EVs
- 5 Level 2 Chargers (L2) – suitable for longer charging sessions
- Connector Types: CCS, CHAdeMO & J1772
Users can activate chargers via the BC Hydro EV App, QR code, or an RFID card. Additional information on the BC Hydro EV charging network, including roaming partners, can be found at bchydro.com/ev.
“We’re excited to expand EV infrastructure in Gibsons,” said Mayor Silas White. “These new charging stations will support our community’s transition to cleaner transportation and provide a valuable service for residents and visitors alike.”
The Town of Gibsons extends its gratitude to the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) for collaborating on finding a suitable location for this project and to BC Hydro for investing in our community’s future and making clean transportation more accessible for everyone.
