Pioneer Park is an open public space in Gibsons Landing, located at “Five Corners” (the intersection of School Road, Gibsons Way, Gower Point Road and Marine Drive).
It is home to the iconic statue of area pioneer George Gibsons, and offers public seating among well-tended garden beds, as well as a porta-potty.
The Visitor Centre once located on the site has moved: the new Gibsons’ Visitor Centre is located at 494 South Fletcher Road (up the stairs across from Winegarden Park.)
Park Rehabilitation Announced Summer 2022
On July 20, 2022, local Member of Parliament Patrick Weiler stopped in Gibsons to announce $138,000 in federal funding for Town-led improvements at the park.
Planned improvements will include building accessible public washrooms, installing bike racks, creating more seating and tables, and landscaping with new turf and plants.
The renovated park will provide residents and visitors with a safe, multi-purpose space to gather, encouraging community engagement and improving wellness. Work at the park is expected to begin in fall 2022, once this year’s tourism season has concluded.
