Support rental housing.

6.1 Complete Shaw Road Affordable Housing Project – Phase #1.

Construction is underway to complete phase 1 of the project. A second phase is also being planned and it includes child-care spaces as well.

6.2 Complete Kiwanis Housing expansion project

Construction is underway. Completion expected at the end of 2024.

6.3 Initiate three more non-profit projects this term.

Shaw Rd Phase 2 moving along very well. Other possibilities include Legion, Community Services, VCH collaboration. We’ve also started renting/managing units through EDH.

6.4 Support market rentals and explore incentives to create them.

Incorporation of recent provincial policies are being considered by Council.

6.5 Encourage secondary and accessory suites.

Recent changes adopted by Council to streamline costs of utility fees. More changes coming as part of OCP / ZB update work

6.6 Support accommodation in RVs, mobile homes, tiny homes and other accessory dwellings, including through zoning, fringe area planning and simplifying the Garden Suite program.
