Understanding Your Utility Bill
Utilities are billed semi-annually for residential and commercial properties and pro-rated for the period of use within each billing period. For the most recent utility rates, please refer to: Consolidated Rates, Fees, and Charges Bylaw

Water & Sewer Rates:
Rates are reviewed each year to ensure we have the funds necessary to maintain the infrastructure and continue delivering reliable services now and in the future.
Gibsons’ Water Infrastructure Includes:
- Pipes, pumps, wells, reservoirs and meters that move water from the environment to your tap
- The Gibsons Aquifer, which provides naturally pure groundwater to our community
Water Charges Include:
- User fees – determined by the amount of water you use
- Water base rate fee
These Charges Fund:
- Maintenance of the water system
- Replacement of aging infrastructure
- Water research and conservation programs
- The staff and equipment required to operate the water utility
Sanitary Sewer Infrastructure Includes:
- Pipes, pumps, and the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP)
- The lift station, which pumps wastewater to the WWTP
Sanitary Charges Cover:
- Sewer system maintenance
- Replacement of aging infrastructure
- Staff and equipment
- Sludge hauling and disposal
Garbage and Organics
- Food waste is collected weekly
- Household garbage is collected every other week

How To Pay Your Utility Bill
There are several ways to pay your Utility Bill.
- Online through your bank or by telephone banking.
- By post-dated cheque (please ensure your account number is included on the memo line of your cheque and that the payment stub from your Utility Bill is attached to the cheque.)
Please mail cheques to: Town of Gibsons, 474 South Fletcher Way, Gibsons, BC V0N 1V0. - Drop-box cheque payments can be left in the mail slot located at the entrance to Town Hall at 474 South Fletcher Rd. Please place the cheque along with the remittance stub in a sealed envelope. Cash is not accepted in the drop box.
- In person at Town Hall (474 South Fletcher Road) by cash, cheque or debit card.
- NEW – Online credit card payment – Canadian credit and debit cards (VISA and Mastercard) may be used to make online payments via OptionPay here. You will be asked for your UTILITY ACCOUNT NUMBER when entering the payment information. This may be found on your Utility Bill. Please note that we do not accept credit card payments at Town Hall or by phone.
Payment must be received at Town Hall no later than 4:00pm on the due date to avoid late payment charges.
