Whether you enjoy waking, biking, or rolling, the Town of Gibsons offers many opportunities for exploring the outdoors. Gibsons is renowned for its natural beauty and getting outside is a great way to get to know the area.
While we have many wonderful existing trails, sidewalks and beaches to enjoy, we are committed to continued improvement of our active transportation networks by making it easier for people of all ages and abilities to get around. Expanding networks throughout the Town and into surrounding neighbourhoods is an important strategy in the Town’s effort to reduce emissions, congestion, and become more liveable.
The Town of Gibsons is committed to ongoing transportation network improvements and we are always on the lookout for funding to further the work. Here are a couple of projects we currently have on the go:
In 2021, the Town received a $675,000 grant that is being used to complete safe, continuous links between the tourism centres of Lower Gibsons and Upper Gibsons. Read more about that project here.
In 2023, the Town was awarded a grant from the Province to develop an Active Transportation Network Plan intended to improve walking, cycling, and rolling connections and make active transportation a more comfortable and convenient option for people of all ages and abilities.
