Water Conservation Stage 1 takes effect on May 1st
Water conservation levels are intended to help stabilize water use throughout the year.
Gibsons’ water infrastructure includes the pipes, pumps, wells, reservoirs and meters that move water from the aquifer to your tap.
While our system currently meets our daily water needs, prioritizing water conservation is crucial for several reasons. This includes ensuring ample water reserves for firefighting emergencies, adhering to our licensed water allocation, optimizing our pumping and well capacities, and alleviating strain on both our infrastructure and the environment.
Through ongoing assessments and monitoring programs, we track aquifer capacity, recharge rates, and sustainable yield.
